Fuel your (active) life

You can be successful in athletics and/or life fueled predominately or completely by plants!

Do you want to eat more plant-based and/or fuel your workouts better, but feel overwhelmed?

I get it because I used to be you!

During my senior year of college as a division I cross country athlete, I decided to go vegetarian because all my favorite foods were plant-based anyway and I was hoping it would give me a performance advantage! Unfortunately, my school did not have a dietitian on staff, so I had to teach myself how to meet my nutritional needs as active female on my own. It was downright overwhelming! I could have saved so much time and energy if there had been a dietitian to help young Amanda back then. And this is why I’m so passionate about helping active folks eat ENOUGH + go vegetarian, vegan, or eat a more plant-forward omnivore diet- so I can be the dietitian I wish younger Amanda had then!

My senior year of college was my fastest cross country season and I’m confident going vegetarian and eating more often played a role! I felt so energized and recovered quickly from my workouts. A few years later, in 2018, ahead of my first ever marathon, I went fully vegan. I qualified for the Boston Marathon and I credit it to my vegan diet and hard work! I went on to run personal bests in multiple distances post college powered by plants. I haven’t looked back!

I have more energy in and out of running and don’t feel constantly hungry anymore.

I was feeling like garbage after hard/long runs and had no energy. I was eating sporadically throughout the day and was often hungry. I was tired of not feeling well despite all the work I was putting in. Meal planning was a game changer for me! As it turns out, I was eating about half of what I needed in a day, no wonder I always felt awful! Amanda provides some really great meal and snack options to keep me fed through the day and fueled for my runs despite being a very busy working mom. I still have off days, but had endless support, encouragement, and ideas to help get back on or stay on track. The meal planning even got my kids trying (and loving) some new foods and now we eat together more frequently as a family. I have more energy in and out of running and don’t constantly feel hungry anymore. It is so obvious that she loves what she does and truly cares and wants to see you succeed. It’s clear this is a passion and she is so knowledgeable and sweet.

I would give Amanda more stars if I could.

I can’t say enough good things about Amanda’s practice and her work as a dietitian. She is so knowledgeable and really meets clients where they’re at. She’s the perfect combination of evidence-based nutrition information and support, education and encouragement to keep moving forward with your goals. Her knowledge on vegan nutrition and especially vegan nutrition for both athletes and for active folks is beyond comprehensive and supportive (although she supports all types of eaters). But most of all she’s a gem to work with. So passionate about what she does and although she always encourages you to move forward, she never pressures you for anything you’re not ready for. I love her work as a dietitian and would give more stars if I could.

Working with Amanda during my training for the Chicago Marathon was an absolute game-changer.

I found Amanda online after I had decided to run the Chicago Marathon. Because I was new to long distance running, I really wanted guidance on how to prep nutritionally for the training and the race.

Wow- I feel so lucky to have met Amanda who is an experienced runner herself, but has a wealth of knowledge in sports nutrition. We worked on everything- day to day nutrition as well as race fueling- something completely new to me!

Working with Amanda during my training for the Chicago Marathon was an absolute game-changer. As a first-time long-distance runner, I had no idea how much strategy and preparation truly goes into fueling properly. Amanda’s experience as a runner herself made her guidance incredibly insightful, practical, and honest. She helped me feel confident throughout my training, and I’m so grateful our paths crossed. I’ve continued working with her, even after race day because I trust her thoughtful approach as I transition back to normal eating habits. Highly recommend.

Before working with Amanda, I felt a bit overwhelmed with the amount of information available. After working with Amanda, I feel confident and empowered. I think the biggest shift I saw was that my fatigue and recovery got better during training.

There is so much information available to us on nutrition, but Amanda is exceptionally detailed in figuring out what works for you. And I believe that is what nutrition really requires- general plans are helpful but each individual has different habits and preferences and Amanda is patient in working through those nuances.

I feel the most confident I have ever felt, and I owe a lot of that to Amanda!!

I feel sooooooo good after working with Amanda for the past year. She has helped me work through my health struggles in sustainable ways that fit my busy schedule as a teacher. I no longer feel overwhelmed when thinking about how to best take care of my body and mind. Amanda has helped me problem solve so many things. And while my husband and I are still working through infertility, I now feel confident to take the next step in our journey because I know my body is ready, thanks to my time working with Amanda! I could go on and on and on about Amanda. She is a wonderful human being, an empathetic practitioner, and as a bonus, she’s vegan!

Seriously, stop your search for a dietitian and go with Amanda. You will not find a more empathetic, dedicated, caring practitioner. She will make you feel at ease in every session. I never felt judged or pushed by Amanda, I always felt validated, heard, encouraged. She celebrates your wins with you and you know she is sincere in her praise. And when you fall short, she never judges, but instead helps you problem solve. I love her!!!

a vegan client

I’d highly recommend working with Amanda, especially if you are a vegan athlete!

I‘ve been training for and racing marathons for the past 22 years. I became a vegetarian about three years ago and then became vegan about one year ago. With a desire to gain insight about how best to eat both meals and snacks as a vegan while continuing to train and race, I began exploring nutritionists in the Boston area where I live. With no luck here I expanded my search to find a vegan nutritionist who specializes in working with athletes, and Amanda’s site appears. After reading her background and experience, I sent her an email with questions. The rest is history.

Amanda was very thorough in her analysis of me in the first two meetings. She provided me with a long list of different brands for vegan snacks, as well as dozens of recipes for easy-to-make vegan meals, quite a number of which I’ve made already. Before working with Amanda I was very limited on the foods I was eating regularly, which did not benefit me with my training. After working with Amanda I’ve gained a whole new view of how to be more wise in my food shopping and with the meals I now make regularly.

I’d highly recommend working with Amanda, especially if you are a vegan athlete! She’ll help you look at your current eating habits and gain wonderful suggestions of ways to improve the foods you’re eating. [She was] very generous in the wealth of information [she] shared with me, as well as left the door open for me to return to working with [her] in the future if I feel the need to.
